Plastic bottles, food containers, shampoo bottles, plant pots. The rigid plastics that pile up around the house. Some of them go in curbside recycling. A lot of them don’t, or shouldn’t, and it’s hard to know which is which.
The Hard Plastics bag is for rigid plastics that need proper processing. Fill it, seal it, leave it out, and we’ll take it from there.
How it works
- Add a collection bag to your next order
- When you’re ready, fill up your bag and leave it out ahead of any of your future Modern Milkman deliveries
- All items must fit inside with the seal closed
Yes please:
- Plastic bottles and jugs
- Food storage containers
- Soap and shampoo bottles
- Pill bottles
- Clamshell containers
- Plant pots and flowerpots
- Plastic trays and crates
No thanks:
- Flexible or film plastic (these go in the Film Plastics bag)
- Foam or styrofoam
- Compostable or plant-based plastics
- Dirty, wet, or food-covered items
Only include items from the accepted list. Everything needs to be clean and fit in the bag with the seal closed.
What happens next
Your bag gets picked up by your milkman on their regular route. From there it travels to one of our hubs, where it goes straight into its dedicated recycling bin. We work with certified recycling partners to make sure your bottle caps and lids are processed to proper environmental standards, materials recovered, and nothing sent to landfill if there’s a better option.
Hard plastics are broken down at a certified facility and materials are recovered for reuse. Not everything in your recycling bin ends up recycled properly. This bag makes sure the hard plastics from your home actually get where they need to go.
